Advantages of PEX Heat transfer plates

PEX heat transfer plates are made from aluminum which is made using either the extrusion method or the stamping method. These plates are used to improve the performance of radiant heating systems. They are capable to maximize the heat transfer. These are quite important in transferring heat from gas or liquid component to another. Air is essential in this process as it is used to blow the radiator tins. They disperse the heat from the PEX tubing to the floor above. Such plates provide the uniform heating distribution to the space and eliminate all the cold spots. The heat transfer plates require the low water supply temperature which reduces the heating costs.

One of the most important advantages of the PEX heating plate is its surface area and its thickness. This is an important feature that represents the uniform heat distribution and the system response time. These plates are offered in two types: stamped plates and the extruded plates. Stamped plates are thinner however they have large contact surface to the floors. These plates need to be installed at the time of fitting PEX tubing. These plates have an omega shaped tubing channel which helps in holding the pipe easily. This type of plate can be used for joists installation and sandwich type installations.

Extruded plates have the omega shaped tubing channel which rotates downwards and helps the installer in securing the position to the sub floor. These plates are thicker than the stamped plates and their contact surface is more with the PEX pipes. These plates are believed to be better than stamped plates. These plates are used for sub floor installations and PEX tubing is installed between the joists. This plate also provides the relief from the problem of ticking sound which is produced when the tubing either expands or contracts. This type of plates helps to maintain better contact with the tubing and allows higher heat transfer. The greater thickness helps to gather and distributes the heat in an efficient manner. It maximizes the comfort provided by radiant heat system.

One should cut the plates smoothly as abrasive edges can damage the tubing during expansion or contraction. The expansion and contraction of the tubing takes place due to the thermal changes of the radiant heat system. One can ream out the tubing channel with round file if the cutting plate becomes inevitable.
If compared to the staple up tubing installation the ever hot aluminum heat transfer plates provides the uniform heating distribution across the flooring area. These plates serve as the support for the PEX tubing and remove the hassles for installing additional accessories. The efficiency of the radiant heating system goes up as it permits the low fluid temperature supply.
